Loretta’s Northwesterner is a cozy little dive bar located in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood. As a neighborhood, South Park offers creative entrepreneurs the opportunity to set up shop in one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities without losing itself to gentrification. The neighborhood is growing quickly, attractive to both Seattleites and others for its lower rents and diversity. In 2017, Thrillist's "national burger critic" deemed Loretta's hamburger the fourth-best in America. Ever since it made the list, people from all over the globe have shown up at Loretta’s to try a prize-winning burger. The #4 burger is the Tavern Burger, a simple burger based on the classic hamburger: a thin white bun, perfectly charred meat, bits of onion, special sauce, pickles, and melted American cheese.
Even though the restaurant’s traffic has increased, Loretta's Northwesterner hasn’t cut corners with the quality of its food. It still hand-cuts fries and uses fresh instead of frozen meat for its burgers. Though it won an accolade for its burgers, the joint is far from being a family restaurant. It’s a bar, so you have to be 21 or older to enter. Loretta’s is your classic neighborhood joint; it’s low-ceilinged and wood-paneled, but arguably perfect, in its own way.
