A dining institution in Seattle, Serafina thrives on bringing people together to share wine and food with family and friends. To the restaurant, Italian food is about staying connected to each other, to the past, and to the earth. And this is what has kept Serafina in business for nearly 30 years. The cozy neighborhood restaurant opened in 1991 between the University district and Downtown Seattle. The restaurant's interior is a nod to the landscapes of Tuscany, giving it an intimate, romantic atmosphere. Its authentic Italian cuisine makes it a favorite with locals and visitors.
According to Serafina’s website, their philosophy is to "offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home." It's no surprise the osteria is known for the friendly service of its "famiglia"—or family as its staff is known—as much as the delicious food. Serafina's menu changes with the seasons to take advantage of the bounty of the Pacific Northwest and the variations in cuisines across Italy. They also pair their menus with a moderately priced but extensive wine list that includes bottles from all 20 wine-producing regions in Italy.
The majority of its interior has remained the same since its opening but the menu has continued to become more refined. While Italian food is timeless, it does leave room for experimentation, and that’s exactly what Serafina does by taking a twist on classic dishes. If you are looking for a great date night restaurant or a place with modern Italian food and a welcoming vibe, then Serafina is the place for you.
